Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is currently hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 3- our MedSurg Unit! This is a full-time night shift position (12 hour) in Charlottesville, VA. One of the best staffed Medical/Surgical units in the state!

Cornell 3 is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit focused on gastrointestinal care, addressing conditions like gallbladder diseases, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and procedures such as colon resections and ostomy creation. The unit also cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory issues, and diabetes complications, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 for personalized care. It is an ideal environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates seeking skill development. Cornell 3 promotes a collaborative atmosphere with a multidisciplinary team and supports professional growth, blending the resources of a major medical center with a community hospital’s warmth, aiming to make a meaningful difference in patient lives.
Requirements:
* Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
* BSN or MSN preferred.
* Registered Nurse License
* Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
* Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License
* BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

Sentara considers you a new graduate RN if you are about to graduate or have graduated and have less than one year of practice. Qualified students will be graduating or have graduated from an accredited nursing program. All new graduate RNs are automatically enrolled into our Residency Program upon hire.

Job Summary
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care – ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women’s Care – Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN’s required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
